C.A.I.C. Values
 | People
with disabilities are husbands and wives, parents, classmates,
friends, community volunteers, and employees, whose contributions to
the world are only limited by the attitudes of our society. |
|
 | All people as human beings are
inherently valuable and have fundamental human rights. |
|
 | All people have the right to pursue
happiness and a life of meaning.
As such, all people have the right to freedom of association
and basic control over their everyday lives. |
|
 | All
people can grow and develop and are entitled to conditions that foster
their development. Such
conditions are optimally provided when people are truly a part of
their local communities. |
|
 | People
with disabilities are a natural part of the human experience.
They have the right to live, learn, work, play, and worship in
the mainstream of society. They
have a right to grow up in families, go to school and learn with their
neighbors, live in a home of their choosing, seek employment, access
appropriate healthcare, and enjoy the recreational opportunities of
their local communities. |
|
 | These rights shall not be diminished
due to the nature or severity of their disability. |
|
 | The California Alliance for Inclusive
Communities believes that the defense of human freedom, human rights,
and the dignity of the individual is a moral imperative.
We commit the full resources of the Alliance to this end. |
